Vicious Shivers (Cullen Bunn's Official Newsletter), Issue 99
This is the 99th issue of Vicious Shivers, a (mostly) weekly newsletter for fans of my work. Thank you for subscribing. Please share it with others if you think they might be interested!
Most of the time, I send my e-newsletter on Sunday mornings. This one is a few days behind. Over the weekend, I took my family to Chicago to attend a performance of the Chicago Symphony with Hillary Hahn. My son, as you may know, is an avid violinist, and this was the chance for him to see one of his favorite soloists live. The performance was absolutely amazing, and while we were in Chicago, we were able to do a little sightseeing, visit the Christkindlmarket, stop in at a few violin shops, and have a fine old time.
It was weird being in Chicago… on the weekend of C2E2… and not be attending the convention. It was all just a matter of weird timing. As I’ve said in the past, though, I can no longer attend conventions unless the organizers or a publisher is bringing me out as a guest.
Maybe next year for C2E2!

I’m sure I missed a few, but I put together an image of my books that have come out this year. Not as many as I would have liked, but not a bad output. I hope you’ve checked out all of these series. I’m really proud of these books.

Andrea Mutti and I stopped in with I Freaking Love Comics to talk a bit about some of our exploits. Andrea might have even let a top secret project slip! It was a really fun discussion! Check it out here—

While on the trip, I found out that a pitch I had put together for a licensed comic series had been accepted! That’s awesome news and I can’t wait to tell you all about it! It’s definitely a series that I was born to write, and I think you’ll be just as excited as me!
I also think another series I’ve been teasing for a bit will be officially announced very soon! So keep your eyes out for some giant news!

We’re barreling toward the end of the year, and it’s a busy one in the Bunn household. We’ve been battling a lot of stress of late, and that doesn’t seem to be easing up. Luckily, we’ve got lots of work, violin recitals, orchestra performances, youth symphony performances, Big Mac Challenges, and planned Cthulhu Wars game nights to keep us distracted.
Squish and I also started watching Game of Thrones together. His review so far:
”That’s her brother!?!”
I’m working on a big list of goals for next year, and I’ll be sharing (most) of them with you in the next week or so.
I hope the rotation of the world is favorable for you and yours!
COMICS THIS WEEK…
HEATHENS #2 hits the stands this week!
The Heathens chase the scorpion into its hole and find themselves surrounded by snakes. Can five alphas stay together long enough for the entire pack to make it out alive?
THINGS TO COME...
Here is a quick and dirty list of upcoming projects. In most cases, I'm only listing projects that are definitely on the schedule with a published. Oftentimes, I will not be able to share much information, but I can at least tease the future! Everything here is, of course, subject to change.
February 2, 2022 - MANOR BLACK: FIRE IN THE BLOOD, a return to the world of magicians and wild magic.
DRAGONRING - a new endeavor involving an indie comic that I’ve loved since I was a kid. A new shared universe that I have a stake in.
A sequel to a story about dreams and loss and adventure.
A sequel to a story of robotic mischief.
A sequel to THE GHOUL NEXT DOOR.
A big crossover comic that no one will be expecting but that makes complete sense.
A horror maxi-series about a mysterious town and mysterious experiments that have played out there.
A horror OGN where reality and surreality clash in a murderous way.
An action/comedy thrill-ride. unlike anything else I've ever written.
An apocalyptic horror/fantasy maxi-series.
A horror one-shot about loss and grief and guilt.
A new action/horror series I can’t tell you much about just yet.
