Vicious Shivers (Cullen Bunn's Official Newsletter), Issue 115
This is the 115th issue of Vicious Shivers, a (mostly) weekly newsletter for fans of my work. Thank you for subscribing. Please share it with others if you think they might be interested!
Another Scriptpocalypse draws to a close. I didn’t get quite as much done as I wanted, but as of right now, I finished 83 pages of script, a couple of chapters of a novel, and a short story. Not too bad. And I hope to get a little more done before the day is out. This time around, I focused on productivity by not scheduling phone calls or meetings and I avoided distractions as much as possible. I think I could have done a little better in that regard, but practice makes perfect. I think I’ll probably try to do a week like this at least once a month for a while. I’m not sure how long I can handle it. I admit, I’m exhausted. But it’s worth it.
Next week, I’m doing a major Spring Cleaning project, getting rid of a ton of stuff that the Bunns don’t need in the house. So expect a bunch of “look at this cool thing I found in the garage” messages on social media. And, yes, meetings and phone calls are back, and I have eight or so scheduled already, as well as doctor’s appointments and more! I know, I know. Doesn’t sound like too much writing will get done, but I’ll manage a bit, I think. I’ll also get my stock of books for sale organized to some degree, which has been a long time coming.

In just a few weeks, I’ll be attending my first convention in years—Planet Comicon in Kansas City. I’ve always loved the show, and I’ve missed the last couple. I’m getting stock together to bring to the show. Not my favorite task usually, but I’ve been enjoying it this time around. This is what the early stages of that project looks like:
I’m going to be bringing some new marketing supplies with me, too. Stickers and postcards aplenty! But one of the new postcards I’m bringing is something I’m pretty excited about. Starting with Planet Comicon, I’ll be bringing a limited edition postcard, Signed and Numbered, that will feature a new short story. When those cards are gone, I will not be printing more. Instead, I’ll be creating a new one with a new story. For me, this makes the card something worth keeping rather than just throwing away, and there’s a really cool collectibility element to them.

And, speaking of stock and supplies, JimmyZ from the Little Shop of Comics just sent me more pics of copies of BEYOND MORTAL going out. It has been a slow process, partially because of comic shop stress and drama Jimmy has been contending with, partially because of supply issues, but the book are going out! If you backed the project and haven’t gotten yours yet, don’t worry! Wave after wave of shipments are on their way!

I don’t think I shared this yet, but HARROW COUNTY has been listed by Ranker as one of the scariest comics of all time!

FINAL THOUGHTS…
I’m slowly… SLOWLY… breaking myself from drinking soda. I’ve been a diet soda guy for a long, long time now, but the sodium in it is just too much for me. This dietary change has made me a bit of an edgy cranky-pants. “But Cullen,” you might say if you know me well, “you’ve always been an edgy cranky-pants!” We’d laugh and laugh and laugh. And then you’d have to figure out how to dig yourself out of the grave in which I’ve buried you alive.
If you enjoy reading about all the nonsense I’m up to, I hope you’ll consider throwing some support toward my Patreon. I post something almost every day, and all the funds earned on that platform go directly into funding more and more comic book work!
If you want to keep the conversation going throughout the week, follow me on Twitter or join my Discord server! Thanks for joining me!
