This week, I have one new comic hitting the stands, and I bid a fond farewell to a weird series that begged the question:
What ghost stories do ghosts tell?
GHOSTLORE #12 wraps up a comic series that is one-part supernatural apocalypse epic, one-part horror anthology.
In the final showdown between Harmony, Lucas, and Shane, victory will come at a great price. In the end comes the hereafter, but will anyone be left to guide lost spirits?
If you’re into preview pages, Major Spoilers ran several pages from this issue.
I had a simple idea I wanted to explore in this book. In the story, estranged father and daughter Lucas and Harmony developed the ability to speak with ghosts. The ghosts, desperate to tell their stories so they could move on, would seek them out and share the tales of terror that kept them tethered to this world. So, every issue would focus on Lucas and Harmony and the journey they were undertaking, but every issue would also feature a short horror story. The horror stories, each with its own vibe, would be drawn by different artists.
For me, there are some deep-rooted and personal fears in this book, none of which have anything to do with the supernatural. Books like serve to entertain, sure, but they also serve as tools for me to work through my own trauma.
GHOSTLORE was the third 12-issue maxi-series I did with Boom! Entertainment, following BONE PARISH and BASILISK. I’ve really come to love the 12-issue format, and I’m going to chase that high, try to do more of these in the days ahead.
If you haven’t read GHOSTLORE, there are two volumes of the trade paperback already out and the third comes out in September.
And, just to keep you in the loop, here’s a look at books that are coming up in the near future!
Thanks for checking out this missive! My books can be found at (or ordered from) your favorite comic book retailer! I hope you’ll check them out!
