Issue 184: Time, You Monster! I Will Have My Revenge!
Vicious Shivers is the official newsletter for fans of my work. Thank you for subscribing. Please share it with others if you think they might be interested!
Kind of a short newsletter this week. I’m exhausted, I have a ton of work to do, and it is going to be a busy week for me outside of work. You know how it is.
I was in Kansas over the weekend for Fountain City Con. I had a great time connecting with folks and hanging out with my pals. Did I have Mexican food both nights of the show? Yes! Did I buy a ton of Strawberry Shortcake toys for Cindy? Yes! Did I find a bunch of old Dungeons and Dragons modules? No. I guess you can’t win them all.
During the show, a Missouri Swagger Reunion was scheduled as a panel. Because Dennis Hopeless couldn’t attend the event, Kyle Strahm and I asked Baldemar Rivas to sit in. It was an absolute blast, just talking about whatever we wanted, and it made me miss that good ol’ rambling nonsensical show we used to do.
But maybe the real highlight of the show… and not necessarily in a good way… was this interaction with a new reader:
A young woman (I’m guessing 15 or 16 years old) approached my table and started flipping though some books. She had an armload of comics she had already purchased, and she told me this was her first comic book convention. She selected a few of my books to purchase and she looked over all of the other titles on the table.
“You wrote all of these?” she asked.
“I did,” I said, proud of my work.
“Wow,” she said. “It’s really cool that you can still be productive at your age.”
I gasped, my friends.
I’ll leave you with that one.
GHOSTLORE #4
A villainously fresh new perspective on the dead-and from the dead-as the antagonist finally materializes.
What compels Shane to communicate with so many spirits… and what does he plan to do with them if they align with his ill intentions?
Meanwhile, Harmony will witness Lucas commit the unthinkable, which will create a rift between them that may never be prepared, changing their journeys forever.
A LEGACY OF VIOLENCE #8
END OF ARC) Dr. Patel is left broken after what he did and Cayce is made to witness his madness go far beyond measure. Meanwhile, Nick remembers a vital moment from his childhood and is taken by a local to a less than ideal situation.
SHIN KAMEN RIDER was a lot of bloody fun… probably because I knew almost nothing about the franchise when I sat down to watch the movie.
I am still sorting and organizing D&D material. Last night, I had a dream that a comic shop/book shop had opened up in the building where my dad’s photography studio was located in the early 80s. In the dream, I had left all of my D&D books in a cabinet in the back of my dad’s studio. I had to sneak into the shop, find the old cabinet in which they were hidden, and steal them.
BETTER CALL SAUL continues to delight.
Here is a quick and dirty list of upcoming projects. In most cases, I’m only listing projects that are definitely on the schedule with a published. Oftentimes, I will not be able to share much information, but I can at least tease the future! Everything here is, of course, subject to change.

I was at a con and told a story to two high school-age people. They seemed to like it. As I they were walking away, one of them leaned over to another: uh-oh, here's when they whisper what a dork they think I am.
"Man, I hope I'm that cool in 20 years!"
That story itself is now ten years old.
